Formed in 1937, Engineering Iron and Steel Association of Zimbabwe is a legally constituted body that represent and serve the interests of employers in the engineering ,iron and steel industry. Its members are involved in mechanical engineering, general engineering, agricultural engineering, structural engineering, foundries, building and assembly of bodies for vehicle chassis of passenger goods and or bulk careers, commercial refrigeration, mining engineering and electrical/electronic engineering.
EISAZ`s panoramic view is to be a recognized leader in the sustainable production and supply of value added iron and steel products and engineering services.
The Association strongly believe in teamwork, transparency, integrity, innovation, effective communication and positive thinking.
Our Association is divided into two regions namely Western and Eastern regions. Each region is governed by a regional council led by a chairperson and a deputy chairperson. The Regional Councils are accountable to the Association`s National Executive Council which comprises of the Association`s president, vice president, immediate past president and the regional chairpersons and their deputies. The Association has a vibrant team of relevant experts led by a Secretary General who oversees the day today management affairs of EISAZ`s business.
EISAZ has a business committee which represent the interests of all members in terms of business support and linkages. The Committee comprise of members from ferrous and base metal traders and processors, refrigeration manufacturers, foundries and such other sectors of the industry.
Advocacy/Lobbying – EISAZ regularly interacts with relevant government ministries/bodies to lobby for policies that benefit its members
Representation in labour matters – EISAZ undertakes this function on behalf of its members to ensure that labour disputes at Conciliation, Arbitration and the Labour court are dealt with in a proper and expeditious manner.
Research and Development – EISAZ conducts research and development for specific issues affecting the sector in partnership with various tertiary institutions
Dissemination of information – EISAZ regularly update members with information that is pertinent to suit their business needs through newsletters, seminars/workshops, round table discussions, breakfast meetings , regional council meetings and Annual General Meetings (AGMs)
Collective Bargaining – EISAZ represents and negotiate terms and conditions that govern employees and employers in the Engineering Iron and Steel Industry at NEC Engineering. This includes annual wage negotiations, exemptions applications etc
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Association`s objectives are as follows;
- To exercise the functions of an employer`s organisation.
- To promote the business interests of members
- To regulate and co-ordinate the relations between members and their employees and further the interests of members in relation to their employees.
- To promote skills development
- To promote good labour relations in the engineering, iron and steel industry.
- To provide members with information to assist them in the running of their businesses.
- To develop standards for its members to comply with as well as a code of ethics for the industry
